silly, but fun

Just took one of those fun quizzes. This one was thankfully short–What 20th Century Theorist are you?

And here are my results:
Lacan
You are Jacques Lacan! Arguably the most important
psychoanalyst since Freud, you never wrote
anything down, and the only works of yours are
transcriptions of your lectures. You are
notoriously difficult to understand, but at
least you didn’t talk about the penis as much
as other psychoanalysts. You died in 1981.

Oof. It’s Monday.

My plan on waking up when the alarm chimed and being at work by 9:30 fell along the wayside this morning. I woke up at 9:10 of course, but managed to make it to work by 10:10 and even got in a shower. Have already been astounded by the sheer absurdity of the world today. I thought I would talk about Massachusetts and Gay marriage or Bush’s most recent remarks on the war in Iraq. But alas, I can’t stomach doing either right now. Peter Gomes had a lovely and succint editorial in yesterday’s Globe about gay marriage. As an disenfranchised African-American, he understands the plight of homosexuals and their right (and I do believe that they have the right) to marry. As for Bush, all I have to say is, Fuck you. Fuck your administration and fuck your constantly changing stories about Iraq. That’s not exactly a winning argument I realize. But that’s how I feel.

Whew!

Still tinkering with the new blog. Trying to get it all cool looking. But since I barely know HTML let alone CSS, its taking me awhile. I managed to make the banner into a picture and get rid of the white space. That took a half an hour. Its a work in progress. The weekend is almost over though. Got a lot done, though not as much reading as I had hoped. The Working Poor by David Shipler is brialliantly written, but thoroughly depressing. So I am avoiding reading it for long stretches. I am already depressed enough as is.
