A Political Post

I don’t usually talk politics here, but I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to post this hilarious flow chart from BoingBoing (who got it from someone else):

Are you laughing yet? Flow charts have gotten a bit gimmicky lately, but they can still be funny. My absolute favorite is from Toothpaste for Dinner:

I’m not sure what your politics are, but I’m definitely in the Obama Bush/Cheney/McCain/Palin hating camp. I’m definitely getting out to vote on November 4th, also because there’s a question regarding eliminating the state income tax. Say what? Yes, I like having my roads plowed in the winter, so I’m going to say no.

    Dear Editor,

    I wanted to write to you about a story that may interest you. I was recently kicked off of facebook for “spamming” my anti-Palin views. I joined a facebook page that was in support of Palin and I began to argue points against her and john McCain. Shortly after I found my account had been disabled. When I e-mailed and asked why they said:

    Hi Chad,

    Your account has been disabled because you have violated Facebook’s Terms of Use by misusing the site’s features to spam others. We do not allow users to send unsolicited messages promoting or advertising a product, service, or opportunity. You will no longer be able to use Facebook. This decision is final.

    Now, I was not spamming any unsolicited messages promoting or advertising a product, service, or opportunity. I was debating points within a forum, as many others were. It has come to my attention that other people have been experiencing this as well. Having their accounts suspended and posts removed. I guess there is no free speech in Facebook.

    The other problem with their system is that they do not tell you what their “limitations” are. Here is a quote from their help page:

    Why was I disabled?

    Faceboook limits the number of times a user can send the same message or make the same post. Your account has been disabled for taking repeated actions that were construed as spam.

    What are the limits?

    Unfortunately, Facebook cannot provide any specifics on the rate limits that we enforce. Please know, however, that the speed at which you are acting and the sheer number of actions you have made are both taken into account.

    How can one follow rules that are undefined?

    I think it would make an excellent article for your newspaper, just how free is facebook? And what are they promoting.
