The Globe has a nice piece on 3 new independent bookstores in the Boston area. One opened right near my neighborhood in Porter Square. I haven’t spent much time there (for obvious reasons), but it’s a nice place.
And the LA Times (which is free now?) has a great piece on food writing. Lots of stuff to add to my TBR pile now. Drat.
We’ve finally hit the jackpot in terms of weather today, though we didn’t get it from fortune cookies.
Even though I have been through Porter fairly recently, I totally missed that a new bookstore had opened there. I’ll have to check it out.
It kind of makes me think of Grolier’s Poetry bookstore with the issues it has had. I remember reading a while ago in an article about it closing which apparently greatly increased the foot traffic in the store.
Sadly though those folks didn’t actually buy things according to a follow up story but instead were just there to say what a shame it is that the shop was closing! *sigh*

It’s funny (in a sad way) but there’ve been rumors about Grolier closing for years. The place is in constant jeopardy. Somehow they keep going, which is great.
